As an IT admin there may be times when you need to bypass your companies Windows update server and get updates directly from Microsoft. This is a pretty simple hack that involves deleting 2 registry items, modifying another and then restarting the Windows Update service.

You will need to run PowerShell as an Administrator locally on the computer you want to update for this to work.

If you want to take it a step further you can use the below script which will prompt you for the remote computer you want to allow to use Windows Update. You will also need to provide an account with admin permissions on the remote computer.
